Boob Tube : The Newsroom

Every Wednesday night at exactly 9pm, you can always find me in our " balkonahe" watching the new addicting show of HBO - The Newsroom. A well-made television program, embodying today's journalism delivery. Jeff Daniels (you know him from Dumb and Dumber) perfect performance as a hard headed, unapproachable Will McAvoy, is one of the reason why the show generated good reviews since it premiere, and not to add it's increasing rating viewership. Jane Fonda, Dev Patel, Emily Mortimer and Olivia Munn are just some of the actors, delivering a remarkable performance(s) in this addicting tv show.  If you're aspiring a career in journalism, best to watch this program for some pointers, made me think why I hadn't pursued a career in this industry. Wait am I having a regrets right now?...Nope I guess, just an epiphany. Watch it guys and I promised worthy of your time and attention, if not, then no harm done. ;)

Fashion Forward : II. Slim Styling and in the Young

Every woman has a great relationship with clothes. It boost our confidence, make us more beautiful and recreate our personality. So gentlemen forgive us if we allot more time in dressing than joining you in sports marathon. This is the only SIN we don't regret committing.

Career women most specifically moms, tends to falter in this area due to major priority turnovers. Which often resulted into a mediocre, boring, and non stylish way of clothing. I get it, since most of you are busy juggling the responsibility of a wife, mother, and administrator,  what you perceived as not so important things tend to put on last in your priority list. But hey, clothing principle is a big part and an important aspect of every woman's life. Neglecting in this area also means to live with no self-esteem and ruins your once precious confidence. Does it necessarily means that when a woman enters motherhood and choose devotion to her husband, children and career she immediately set aside her fancy for clothing and styling because priorities changed, suitable time lost and monetary budget is unavailable. I say NO, woman has the responsibility to be qualitative not only in her deeds, and accomplishments but also in how she project herself , one by means of clothing.

So for those career moms who at this point find no interest in devoting a little bit of your time, because your way too busy for other motherly works, I am dedicating this issue to you. Yes you, devoted mothers who unselfishly prioritize your son/daughter's needs or your husband's inquiries or your office's calls, here are some pointers on how to look great and beautiful, slim and young and eventually succeed you in reconnecting your inner stylishness.

The Perfect Polished Pants
Makes you look OLDER...
A boxy, guy-style shirt tucked into baggy, pleated khakis doesn't do a midlife figure any favors.
Makes you look YOUNGER!
Sleek but not tight, these flat-front stretch pants in a right-now color give you a slender line. Wear the slim cotton turtleneck untucked for a relaxed, modern vibe.

Pop of Color
Makes you look OLDER...
The mushroom hues of this dowdy skirt and too-big tee make everyone look washed out. The cross-body bag is too sporty for the office and misses a chance to have fun with accessories.
Makes you look YOUNGER!
If you think patterned above-the-knee skirts are just for college girls...not so! This example looks grown up when paired with a tailored denim motorcycle jacket and a complexion-brightening tee.

The Best Dress
Makes you look OLDER...
Tight and bright, this cocktail dress is trying too hard to look sexy, from the plunging neckline to the abbreviated hem. T-strap stilettos cut you off at the ankles.
Makes you look YOUNGER!
This dotted sheath shows you can dress flirty without flashing a lot of skin. The black-and-white color combo is sophisticated, and the swishy hem flutters with every step.

Shapely Skirts
Makes you look OLDER...
Long and matronly, this shapeless skirt is about as flattering as a sack. Worn with a boxy cardigan hitting at the widest part of the hips, it's an outfit way too geriatric for anyone under 101.
Makes you look YOUNGER!
Knife-pleated and swingy, this above-the-knee skirt shows off still-got-it legs. A lean violet cardigan over an orchid satin tank highlights curves.

Lean Jeans
Makes you look OLDER...
Mom jeans like these - with a high elastic waist and a hip-expanding tapered leg - have become a punch line for a reason. The no-waist blazer and bag are too straitlaced, and the clunky sneakers are better suited to the gym.
Makes you look YOUNGER!
In a slimming dark rinse, bootcut stretch jeans are comfortable but chic. A color-blocked cardigan and padded-sole leopard flats let show your style sense.

THE WORK WARDROBE

Comfy Cardigans

Slenderize with fine-textured knits that skim trouble spots but still show your shape. Highlight the thinnest part of your torso — right below the bust — with a single strategically placed button (camel cardigan, left). Choose a V-neck with body-conscious ribbing where you want attention and a generous hemline where you don't (gray V-neck, middle). Select a cardigan that is part shawl, part sweater and artfully drapes around a problematic midsection (red option, right).

Trousers for Allover

Control

Appear svelter in seconds with these stealth slenderizers. Trousers with a stretchy, supportive fabric glide over jiggly areas, and the foolproof fit (sleek and just slightly bootcut) flatters every figure.

Career Blazers

Top off your look with a fitted blazer. Give an old one hanging in your closet a modern update by removing the shoulder pads.

Haute Heavyweights

Wear pants in a heavier fabric like wool gabardine or cotton twill. These materials drape in a flattering way.

A Tall-Order Dress

For a top half that needs extra length, reach for pieces with eye-fooling effects. A deep V-neck empire dress (the waist hits just under the bust) pulls attention upward, while a banded-hem shirt, worn untucked, elongates the torso.

THE WEEKEND WEAR

Hide and Sleek

Camouflage your middle with a poncho or tunic top. Designed to be worn untucked, they give the illusion of a trimmer waistline.

Jeans for an

Hourglass Shape

Find a pair with a contoured waistband, which means there's no gaping — and no flash of bum cleavage.

Jeans for a Better

Backside

Downsize your derriere with jeans that don’t have posterior pockets or caboose-cluttering details like stitching or seams. The boldly printed blouse plays a part, too: It draws attention away from the rear view.

Trimming Tunic

A forgiving cut gets even more figure-friendly, thanks to dramatic embroidery that brings the focus front and center.

Chic Carryall

A big, slouchy leather bag combines boho chic with practicality. Bonus: Larger bags flatter your shape by making everything else seem smaller.

THE SPECIAL OCCASION

Style Makeover

Don't hide behind too-big clothes: "Chic, fitted clothing expresses confidence," notes career coach Debra Condren, Ph.D., author of Ambition Is Not a Dirty Word. For a slim, streamlined look, dress in a single shade versus separates in different tones.

Effortless

Elegance

Dressing up? You can try skipping a gown, and buying separates instead. You'll get a better fit on top and bottom.

Do the Twist

Wear a bold statement necklace to draw all eyes upward.

Style Points

Pointed-toe pumps add height and lengthen legs so they look lean.

Pintuck Dress

Classy and just sexy enough, a circle-patterned shift will see you through all of fall's special occasions. The floaty, body-skimming silhouette is forgiving of midriff bulges, while the elegant pintucks elongate your frame.
